I can't believe we are leaving Virginia Beach in just a few short months. To leave the South and return, most likely, to Illinois and our families is making me very sad (the Illinois part, not the family part). The family part will be a lot of fun.

I will miss so many things about living here in the South.

I have absolutely loved living near the beach. You can even smell the ocean sometimes, when you walk outside on a nice day. At least, we think you can. I'll miss the ocean.

Just three blocks from the oceanfront is our favorite coffee shop. It shall not be named since it has a bad word in its title. We've been able to overlook that because they have very good blueberry buckle. We go in there at least once a month. I'll miss that little coffee shop.

I'll miss driving the country roads and stopping at one of the many farm stands along the way. And buying blackberry jam and flowers that will surely die.

I'll miss being able to go to downtown Williamsburg on Saturday mornings, to get some coffee and walk around and browse the shops.

I love the mild winters here in the South. They don't drag on and on and on like the winters do in Illinois. I will definitely miss not having to scrape my car off every morning.

I'll miss the people. They say "excuse me"! Have you ever heard of such politeness? Only in the South.

Speaking of politeness, I cannot even recall the last time I was honked at or tailgated here. No road rage to speak of, in the South. Will I ever miss that!

I'll miss being able to wear a sun dress without people saying "Why are you all dressed up today?" like they do in Illinois. Those Midwesterners and their constant jeans!

I'll miss the baskets of Moon Pies in the check out lanes at Food Lion. Man, those things are good. The chocolate ones, not banana. Yuck. Actually I've never tried the banana. I hope they sell them at Jewel Osco. The chocolate ones, that is.

I am pretty sure I have fallen in love with The South. I'll be sad to leave. I am praying every day that God will give me peace about going back to Illinois, and that He will show me the good things about living there.

But I'll never let my hubby forget that he has promised me we'll come back to the South someday, for good!

I wanted to thank you for visiting my blog and so I jumped over here to see yours! As we say here in the South "I do declare, darlin', I think you are meant to be a GRITS" (girl raised in the south. Don't stay away from Dixie too long, and we'll be here for you when you get back!

I'll be checking in with you from time to time and keep me posted on your move to Illinois.

Hugs!
Judy
